Our story began in the early 1960s when John W. Hayes, then operating Atlas Septic Systems, was asked to excavate his first swimming pool. That single job introduced him to an industry that would change his life—and his family’s—forever.
John quickly realized that building swimming pools not only offered a promising business opportunity but also allowed him to bring joy to families in a way he never could with septic systems. Driven by his passion, Quality Pools was officially incorporated in 1966, with John proudly bringing his sons, Bob and Joe, into the business.
A Family Business Built on Quality & Integrity
In those early years, Quality Pools focused on vinyl liner pool construction, while supplementing work in the winter by building warehouses. However, John and his sons had bigger dreams—they wanted to create a company known for exceptional craftsmanship, honest service, and long-lasting pools. Tragically, John passed away in 1973, but his legacy and values lived on through Bob and Joe, who remained dedicated to growing the family business. With a firm commitment to quality workmanship and superior customer service, they expanded Quality Swimming Pools to become one of Ohio’s most trusted pool builders.
Three Generations of Pool Building Excellence
As the business continued to thrive, so did the Hayes family legacy. In 2001, Joe’s daughter joined the company, ensuring that Quality Swimming Pools would continue into the next generation. We’ve been fortunate to have a strong, loyal team—many of whom have been with us for decades. It truly feels like a family within a family. Our Construction Manager has been part of the company since Jill was just a toddler, and now both of his sons work alongside him. That kind of long-standing dedication and connection is a big part of what makes our company special.
